maybe i'm not as happy as i used to be half a year ago

A variant of the typical black glutinous rice dessert - is to have it cold!
My dad kept half of the dessert in the fridge. Bought vanilla ice-cream today and surprised me with this cold dessert!
It reminded me of the Japanese Azuki (Red Bean) ice-cream dessert! but this is even more yums!!

i'm never quite a TV person. when ly is in SG, it's movies 95% of the time. now! only when he's away, i watch drama during my free time and on train (on way to work). so! these are the shows i'm watching. i know it's a weird mix..


taiwanese idol drama - starred by my FAV onscreen couple. been waiting to borrow the show from JH. now it's on cable channel 825!

season 2 is still showing now. i get very restless if i can only watch 1 episode/week.
it's an alright show; i'd prolly give it a low 7.

wahahahaha. TOP CHEF MASTERS. super addictive. a must-watch for foodies!

Bad. Started the week off with a real serious case of migraine.

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday were torturing.

Friday, not exactly great. Heard some bad news from the office. Certainly not the best way to end the week.

Saturday. I'm looking forward to the picnic. Not looking forward to the job after. I hate working on weekends. It feels that I haven't rested.

Stella's visit to Singapore

day of arrival
spent the night chatting at StarBucks. just catching up on old times.

Went to Maxwell for lunch. the yummy Tian Tian Chicken Rice! we queued about 20 mins for it? My first time eating it. it's really gd! i love the chilli especially! We also had the sliced fish noodles soup! super tasty soup! perhaps i was too full, it din taste as gd as i remembered it.

Spent the rest of the Saturday doing the shopping route. Alighted at Somerset for 313, then walked all the way down to Taka, Wisma, Far East, took a bus down to Bugis, and lastly Haji Lane.

Had a fab dinner at Melben crab. I had never been that full since those secondary/jc-buffets days.

Sunday: Katong tour. not a place that most tourists would go. who comes to sg for a week apart from my crazy cousin simon. stella was here for 1 week so! having run out of places i brought her to katong for some gd food action.
We had the famous laksa! n durian puffs. according to ju it's super gd! i'd nv know cos i dun eat durians.

then to the Singapore Food Festival! it was raining on that day but the place was still super crowded. we ordered a spread but personally i felt that everything was just so-so.

guess which arm is mine? ha. they are seriously too fair.

i've been eyeing on my neighbour's shoes, not really neighbour, i always see her at the same bus stop in the morning and she has this cute pair of flats! i really wanted to go up to her n ask her where did she get them. THEN! over the weekend i went out with my taiwanese friend, Stella. brought her ard for shopping. AND! ta dah! i saw that pair of shoes!! at 花草树木. really want to get it but i bought sooo many pairs from the states and my shoes area is exploding. mama is going to kill me.

THE JUNE ROADTRIP - PRE / DAY01

workload was crazy before i left for the states. needed to finish because i was leaving.
so, for the 2 weeks, i was practically the last few to leave the office. i hate being the last cos the entire office will be empty and dead, and the last person has to switch off all the lights/aircon.

anyway, i survived through (i have to) and on 17th June, that was my happiest day so far in the past few months. i knew i'm only 1 day away from seeing ly. i remembered, i was so desperate to do sth to my hair (cut, dye whatever) but just was unable to find time. i went out at around 8ish pm and all the watsons/guardians around raffles place were all closed. wtf. yah! i was that desperate to look for hair dye, thinking i could diy before my flight. i continued working till 11pm? 1 hour late in meeting alan n yz cos they wanted to pass me things to bring to ly. sorry guys. we had supper at 85 i even tried the 24 hrs ntuc beside it but they did not sell hair dye. reached home and started packing. being the dilly dally me, i took 4 hours to pack. (i already selected what i wanted to wear and chucked it in the luggage the previous weekend!)

almost ready.. then i received a call from ly saying that i had to send in some online application form. it's mandatory for anyone entering the states. if u fail to submit and get approval, they have all the rights to bar you from entering the states. apparently, someone kena before and was stuck at narita (transit in narita to go states) and had to take the next flight to return to sg. people, it's called the ESTA. please please remember to apply before traveling to the states. yah, we freaked out, how how how! so ly immediately applied for me while i made my way to the airport. luckily it was approved instantly. again, it might take a few days for approval, i was lucky. yay! safe! i checked in and boarded the flight.

my flight itinerary was:
SG-NARITA-LA-DALLAS
crazy. it was equivalent to
7.5 hrs - (2hrs transit) - 11 hrs -(4hrs transit) - 3 hrs
took me more than a day to fly to see my bf. (it better be worth it!)
yah i was exhausted when i reached as i couldn't sleep at all on the plane. even tho i did not sleep the night before, maybe i was too excited for the trip.

ly was already at the luggage claim when i stepped out of the customs, i was so so so happie to see him, even though i remembered my first words were "i'm super tired, the flight was super long, i did not sleep at all" along these lines. but his were, "hug hug".

we picked up the luggage, and headed for dinner. due to time differences even tho i was up in the air for like 20 over hours, it was 18th Jun 7ish pm only. that was the first time i sat in his new car. it was seriously much better than alabama days, that old car gave me headache. he introduced dallas to me, told me where he stays, what McArthur Road is the main road then turn here to go where turn there to go where, showed me the places he often goes and of course, pointed out walmart to me! haha. we couldn't decide where to go cos i wasn't hungry plus i was quite tired, jetlag not in the mood for food. he wanted to bring me to this super good vietnamese restaurant for pho but i was just not in for asian food. it's america so of cos let's go american! we dined in chilli, where i had my fav chilli (not quite the way i like it) and ribs. we couldn't even finish even though we only ordered one main.

next destination: walmart! hahaha silly me loves walmart. i just love those big hypermarts with wide aisles and rows and rows of the same type of stuff just different brands, there can be soooooo many types of cereals, chips and spam! grocery shopping makes me happy too. of course we went with an agenda! hair dye! i picked blue-black, wanting to look really asian in the states hahaha nah, just wanted to appear different in the photos as compared to other trips. the last US trip 3 years ago my hair was bleached uneven light brown.

only when we reached home, then i realised my phone wasn't with me. we searched high n low and i thought i might have left it in the restaurant. yes, i'm pretty forgetful and careless. he called, and luckily someone picked up. it was really misplaced on the restaurant table. the server was kind enough to keep away for me. phew!

thought that was it? a-ha, nope, in the late night, we headed over to his colleague's place for some mj action. yes i couldn't believe that the first activity i had in the states was actually MAHJONG. eh eh it was really not me. THEY wanted to play. crazy me. my first day in the states was stretched to the max, i managed to finally hit the sheets near dawn. (:

i believe last week i was on holiday mood; at the back of mind i kept thinking of the states; what should i wear, what to bring, where to go, what to do, what to eat, where to shop, what to see and the list continued. i was in no mood to work. didn't help that i had tons to do. oh yah. and a long weekend still so it meant i had 4 days to do 5 days' work. not so much of a holiday huh.

which explained why it all went wrong and all over the place this week. swamped with work. catching up what i've missed. back from wishful holiday thoughts. i have to straighten everything out before i can fly, so, stay rooted now jo.

C and myself were quite okay with the food. unfortunately not for JH. hahaha. they served a pizza, mildly warm; definitely not straight out of the oven and when we asked for re-heat they came back with a burnt one. gosh. we told the person and they got it off the bill. well, at least the service was worth going back again. maybe? maybe not?

but speaking of japanese food, i really miss the real deal in nihon! gd jap food in sg is tough to find and way too pricey. i want the 3000 yen sushi set in tsukiji where the toro melts in your mouth and the uni will bring you straight up to heaven.

oh! and i saw faye's performance on the china cny show - 春晚. she's still as good!
i wonder if she's gonna release a new album. anyone knows?

yes. she only informed me on wednesday night that her arrival was friday 0050 flight. erm. super last min and i've to work on friday! how to show her around! and guess what? her departure is saturday 0500. only ONE day in singapore! aiyooos. and she's not even transiting. flew all the way to singapore for 1 day just to meet all her sg friends. *touched. she couldn't stay longer cos she has to fky back to korea on sunday and she just want to maximise her off days. silly girl. HUGS. thanks for making the trip down! tho it was short, i had fun! hope you had fun too! and got to see and experience the best of Singapore in 1 day! too bad i don't have a camera so i din take any pics! waiting to see hyesun's upload on FB! new shoes for the cny? nope. i wore an old pair of heels out and it gave way when i was at work! %^@$%^#$%&#$^&.
lesson learnt. buy and wear your shoes. don't keep and keep and keep.

i was supposed to join hyesun after work. so i had no choice but to buy a pair of shoes. tsk. otherwise i would have wore my 300yen office slippers home. i swore not to buy any shoes till the US trip cos i'm so ready to stock up on nine west and aldo. ):

take it as my new year shoes then! i really like the details at the heels there.
but it kinda resembled the Schu shoes that I bought a few months back..

was nagged to do spring cleaning. argh. managed to throw away 3 big bags of old clothings (really old) and some of the bags. tidied the shoe racks for once but i'm sure it'll get messed up by tmr morning as I choose what to wear to work.. my study room is still very messy. i can't decide what i want to do with my old blogshop stuff. i shld lelong and sell them all. too tired to continue blogshop or go to fleas. need to pack my old smu notes and textbooks. also my art and craft materials. photos and photo albums. traveling notes, ticket stubs and itineraries. aiyo. the extra room is turning into my huge store room!

anyone wants to volunteer help? dar! you la. go off at the wrong time. u should be here to help me clear the stuff! it doesn't help when u throw all our trips' memorabilia to me!

i got my hours all wrong. stupid flu. i was unable to sleep properly for the past few days and finally my body gave up. went on MC on fri and slept the whole day. woke up at 3pm, 8pm and now 1am(sat?)

hope i'll be able to catch more sleep later to wake up in the afternoon to talk to the faraway dear. reunion dinner at hougang later!

as i can never finish arranging my exchange photos, i shall try to do a weekly update of the nice pics i took over the 4.5 mths. enjoy!

it was the 3-5-7 festival. shall talk on that on some other days. yup. i was with qi (: she was visiting tokyo and she stayed with me. hey qi, you remember the small girls? the below is my fav. the expression on her face is so innocent. totally like an angel's. she was shy and hugged on to big daddy's leg but yet she still posed for the photo. lurves.

it was a crazy sat day out with the Js. we were all dragged out of bed at 9am (con n i had mahjong till 3am yawns). headed to changi v for breakfast! then off to ubin for some cycling adventure! it was freaking hot. really really hot. (it was snowing over at ly's) we cycled to (i can't rem the name) for the mangrove area then walked up the tower, cycled for another hour or so, headed back to the jetty to meet up with jh. rested abit then continued our cycling. went to the obs area, we took a wrong turn and ended up back at where we started. aiyo. we finally surrendered at 5ish pm. totally exhausted and burnt. sat down for ubin seafood. so-so but it was quite cheap.

u think that's the end? haha. no no. we went back to sunny island, went home and changed, headed to downtown for movies+bowling+arcade. haha. 24yo acting like we are still very young and energetic. bowling: same old rules, losers will treat popcorn+drink for the later movie and thanks jh n chye for the treat! hee. arcade: the new bishi bashi! $2 per game but can play really long! 'm sure if dar is here he'd have played till like stage 20 or sth! haha. movie: we watched the imaguinary of doctor panassus (did i spell wrongly?) it was good! i liked the show! i liked the colours, the reality amidst the fantasy and the actors haha. go catch it! but i don't recommend watching it after a full day of cycling + bowling + muscle aches + sun burnt.

alrighty! dar, if you are thinking i'm having so much fun while you are away in the states. YOU ARE WRONG. i miss you. all the while. (:
